Job Title: Grant Manager

Reports To: Chief Operating Officer

Position Summary

The Grant Manager plays a key role in advancing the Aldrin Family Foundation’s mission to ignite a lifelong passion for space exploration and STEM learning in students and educators around the world. This position is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of grant funding, including prospect research, proposal development, compliance, and reporting. Grant initiative should focus on supporting innovative education programs that inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and future careers in space and science. Working closely with the Chief Operating Officer and the Vice President of Education, the Grant Manager will help secure and sustain funding for the Foundation’s experiential learning initiatives, educator professional development, and community partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

Grant Strategy & Prospecting

  • Identify, research, and pursue grant opportunities from other foundations, corporations, and government agencies aligned with the Aldrin Family Foundation’s focus on space exploration, STEM education, workforce development, and educational equity.

  • Develop and manage a strategic grants pipeline and calendar to support annual and long-term fundraising goals.

  • Track trends in space, STEM, and education funding to inform organizational strategy.

Proposal Development & Writing

  • Write and submit compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and renewal requests that clearly communicate the Foundation’s mission, programs, and impact.

  • Collaborate with the Foundation’s education staff to translate hands-on learning experiences, such as Giant Moon and Mars Maps™, S-Cubed™, summer camps, and teacher professional development, into strong funder narratives.

  • Partner with the Chief Operating Officer and accounting team to develop accurate, compliant grant budgets and supporting documentation.

  • Ensure all grant submissions meet funder requirements and deadlines.

Grant Management & Compliance

  • Manage awarded grants to ensure full compliance with programmatic, financial, and reporting requirements.

  • Track grant deliverables, outcomes, and timelines across multiple funders.

  • Prepare and submit interim and final reports, highlighting student reach, educator engagement, geographic impact, and learning outcomes.

  • Support audits, monitoring visits to client sites, or compliance reviews related to grant funding as needed.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date grant records in the Foundation’s grants management system and according to the Foundation’s defined processes.

Impact Measurement & Evaluation

  • Work with the Vice President of Education to support research activities, including collecting and analyzing data related to student participation, educator impact, and program effectiveness.

  • Work with the Vice President of Education and the Chief Operating Officer to translate evaluation data into clear, compelling reports for funders and stakeholders.

  • Use reported outcomes and lessons-learned to strengthen future proposals and demonstrate continuous improvement for the Foundation’s initiatives.

Funder Stewardship & Partnerships

  • Working in close collaboration with the Chief Operating Officer, serve as a primary point of contact for grant funders and help build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with philanthropic and corporate partners.

  • Coordinate funder site visits.

  • Support the Foundation’s team with demonstrations and presentations that showcase the Foundation’s programs and mission.

Qualifications

Required

  • Advanced degree in nonprofit management, education, public administration, business administration, STEM, or a related field.

  • Three to five years of experience in grant writing and grant management, preferably within education or STEM-focused organizations.

  • Demonstrated success securing grants from foundations, corporations, or government agencies.

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

  • Ability to work closely and collaboratively within a small, mission-focused team.

  • Must be able to pass a background check, including ability to work with minors.

Preferred

  • Experience with space science, STEM education, or informal learning environments.

  • Familiarity with government grants (e.g., NASA, NSF, Department of Education).

  • Experience with program evaluation and education impact metrics.

  • Experience following grants management processes and reporting procedures.

Work Environment & Benefits

  • Full-time

  • Remote with some travel required; must be based in Texas

  • $75,000 USD annual salary
