Aldrin Family Foundation Officially Launches New Giant Moon Map™ —Bringing the Surface of the Moon Into Classrooms Across the Globe
New campaign includes exclusive signed Moleskine notebooks for donors supporting hands-on space education
HOUSTON, TX — The Aldrin Family Foundation today announced the launch of its newest Giant Moon Map™, inviting students around the world to step onto the surface of the Moon—no rocket required. Designed to transform learning into an immersive experience, the floor-sized map turns space exploration into a hands-on journey that sparks curiosity and fuels big dreams.
Built from real lunar imagery, the Giant Moon Map™ allows students to walk across craters, trace the paths of Apollo astronauts and Artemis missions and explore the same terrain future explorers may one day visit. Through interactive lessons and activities, students can measure distances between landing sites, plan their own lunar missions and see how science, math and engineering come together in real-world applications.
Designed to inspire the Artemis Generation of explorers, scientists, engineers and innovators, the updated Giant Moon Map™ combines stunning lunar visualization with standards-aligned STEM learning opportunities for K–12 classrooms. The large-format educational resource features detailed topographic imagery of the Moon’s surface, including elevation data and the lunar poles, alongside educational graphics and QR-linked digital resources exploring lunar phases, tides, Earth’s seasons, space exploration history and mathematical comparisons between Earth and the Moon.
“This is more than a map—it’s an invitation,” said Andrew Aldrin, President of the Aldrin Family Foundation. “An invitation for students to see themselves as future explorers and to experience learning in a way that feels tangible, engaging and inspiring.”
To celebrate the launch, the Foundation is introducing a limited-time campaign in partnership with Moleskine. Donors who contribute $100 or more toward expanding access to the Giant Moon Map™ in classrooms will receive a special edition Moleskine notebook signed by Andrew Aldrin. Only 53 notebooks will be available, commemorating 53 years since humanity’s last mission to the Moon and offering supporters a unique way to connect with the mission.
The initiative also directly supports educators: the first ten schools to purchase a Giant Moon Map™ will each receive 20 complimentary copies of Welcome to the Moon, written by Buzz Aldrin, extending the learning experience beyond the map itself. As an added bonus, the very first school to purchase will also receive a complimentary set of 20 Moleskine notebooks.
Distribution of the new Giant Moon Map™ will begin in July and August, aligning with the back-to-school season and equipping classrooms with engaging, hands-on STEM resources for the upcoming academic year. By combining immersive design with real scientific data, the Giant Moon Map™ supports the Foundation’s mission to inspire the next generation of explorers and bring the excitement of space into classrooms around the world.
