Aldrin Family Foundation and JASON Learning partner to integrate space education into everyday lessons
BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – The Aldrin Family Foundation (AFF) today announced its partnership with STEM provider, JASON Learning (JASON), to bring the excitement of space education to the next generation. The partnership, designed to enhance the educator experience both in-person and online, will connect AFF with thousands of schools across the country through the integration of the STEAM nonprofit’s Giant Mars/Moon Maps into JASON’s curriculum.
“As we continue navigating the facilitation of distance learning across the country, it is imperative that we adapt our program to reach today’s students” said AFF President Dr. Andrew Aldrin. “The first crew going to Mars is in grade school today, and our goal must be to make space studies accessible to all students with the Moon and Mars as a key element in their education.”
JASON serves more than 5 million students across the country. Educators from JASON’s subscribed schools will have the option to add AFF’s space tile to their existing lesson plans built from JASON’s built-in STEM framework, which provides students access within the module to real-world experts and professionals who are currently researching and working toward colonizing the Moon and Mars.
“A space tile is a significant addition to JASON’s content,” said JASON Learning president and CEO Eleanor Smalley. “It provides an exciting opportunity for our students to not only explore the adventures of space, but also learn about the history and science behind space exploration. We are confident that, through this module, they will be able to begin imagining themselves as the next space explorers.”
JASON’s multidisciplinary approach integrates reading and writing skills into every lesson, and its digital library includes hundreds of award-winning online and hands-on activities in science, math, and technology for K-12 students to keep students actively engaged while learning remotely.
